Summer, that is. It was just here, and 39 degrees, and now, although it's been nice n' sunny (for the most part), we've had a titch of frost a couple of times and it just seems, well, like it's on the eve of Fall. Which it is, I know. I just hadn't quite had my fill of summer. And now it's all about preserving and processing . . . apples, pears, cucumbers, beans, beans, beans! We've dug the potatoes, pulled a few of the dry beans, (accidentally) picked a Kuri squash . . . it's all coming together. And all seeming a bit Fall-ish. So . . . I've been back at work on a pair of kids' gauntlet mitts, and I've also been (gasp!) knitting away on a cardigan for myself. I know! Stop the presses! But I don't intend to freeze again all winter this year. (This would also be why we are attempting to get a wood burning fireplace insert installed where the little dinky stove is right now.) See my sweater?
Actually, I'm a bit further than this picture shows, but the light is too dim for another, more current, photo. I love how it is worked from cuff to cuff at the top, and then the bottom will be picked up and worked down to desired length. Fun. Can't talk now . . . must go knit! (Hope you're doing the same.) |
