Yes, in a blink of an eye, or so it seems, it has now, suddenly, become "almost Christmas." Between batches of company and a stretch of being sick, 6 weeks flew by. I was still picking tomatoes off my vines one day, and then next thing I knew, all the leaves were gone and the neighborhood was decorated in red and green! This website has also undergone a transition, as I've had to say good-bye to my wonderful web guy Alan Sandercott, who is REALLY retiring, now. He has been simply fabulous at the background helm, from the initial set up of The Woollen Earth online to keeping things working smoothly here, and I can't thank him enough for all the help he's provided over the years. I am excited, too, to work with someone new, and to take full advantage of Chad's experience and his take on the operation of things. Life on the "farm" is shifting, too, as some maturation occurs amongst the little `uns: I don't think I've introduced these two here. Have I? This summer we found kittens in our woodshed. (And we didn't own a cat.) These two brothers won us over and they've stayed on. Heckle and Jekyll, Fric and Frac, two peas in a pod . . . meet Asterix and Obelix. They're growing and growing . . . and with all the manhandling from two kids, they're as gentle as can be, and really are barely kittens any longer. Love `em. And with the chickens? Check this out: At long last. Just in time for eggnog. Even my knitting/crafting projects have been honing in on the gift season. Projects on the needles not scheduled for holidays (ahem . . . my cardigan) have been languishing. Honestly, mostly my mind is buzzing with ideas more than anything seems to be materializing, but I did cast on for some Darrowby Walking Socks. I made a red and black schemed pair a couple of years ago . . . and then sold them right out from under the intended recipient's feet. Whatta gal, eh? Definitely time to make the replacements. Still loving Briggs and Little's Tuffy (as usual), and these Rocky Brook wooden double point needles. And you? Are you shifting gears? |
