You never thought it would happen, did you?? I've had the instructions and the prototype ready for months, but just hadn't gotten a good photo taken to be able to offer this pattern for sale. (And I'm sure SOMEONE will be glad that I actually got a good photo taken so that he can finally have his socks!) But here it is, M'GILLICUDDY: Adult Socks in Four Sizes With Optional Turn-Down Cuff
I didn't take a picture of the alternate (fold-down cuff) version, but it looks the same, with the exception of a turned-down ribbed cuff at the top, reminiscent of a pair of kilt hose (but shorter). I'll see if I can't get my husband to take a picture of my foot sometime in the turn-down cuff version (which I knit in the Light Blue colorway and looks fab!). The heel sports the mini cable twist down the back, so you can make an impression as you're walking away!
The socks were knit with Briggs and Little's "Sport" 100% wool on 3.0 mm needles, and take a single skein to make a pair, except with the fold-down cuff version ... for size L (men's size 10) you MIGHT just have to get into a second skein, and with size XL (men's size 11-12), you'd have to get into a second skein. I did stock up on the Sport yarn in several shades, and even brought in 3 colors of the "Durasport", which has 20% nylon to 80% pure wool, just to toughen things up a bit. Pattern and yarn can ship out any time, and just let me know if you need a set of 3 mm needles ... I've got `em in lots of materials, from birch to bamboo! BRIGGS AND LITTLE SPORT 1 Ply, 100% Wool 393 m / 113 g Hank Tension: 24 sts on 3.0 mm needles = 4" Price: $5.50 CDN
Colors, Left to Right: Natural White, Sheeps Grey, Brown Heather, Black, Light Blue, Grape, Red. New Shades:
Jade, Fern Green. Durasport: 20% Nylon, 80% Wool
Colors Left to Right: Oatmeal, Blue Jean, Forest Green. Or, for something fancy, give `em a try in Celestial Merino Hmmm ... Just looking at the pictures I took for the last entry and wondering where all the sun went? There's a POND in where my garden should be. Good knitting weather, for sure. |

When it's nice and sunny, you'll find us out in the yard, desperately trying to keep up with the garden and yard. Only brief pit stops in the house...throwing together cool, refreshing meals and beverages and throwing our many dirty clothes into one of many growing piles. Then the rain comes, certainly as a reminder that the house does need to have some sort of cursory cleaning, and oh, yeah, there's still that cursed unpacking. Knitting needles and crochet hooks are inside, too, and oh, so alluring. Yes, among the hoeing and hauling rocks, and the scouring and putting away, I've found some time to work on a few projects. A couple more princess birthday crowns, a crocheted mesh bag for onion storage or market days, and new bunny slippers for wear in a new house ... all of which are either already with their intended recipients, or still on the hook/needles and not on my camera. I'm trying VERY hard to stick with these projects and finish `em up so I can move along to a few bigger things ... like a cardigan for me for the upcoming winter, or a fairisle vest for the "gentleman farmer". Fingers are itching for a nice, juicy, substantial project, while still enjoying the quick polishing off of smaller items ... especially when smaller items are easily ported along to massive neighborhood yard sales that require AT LEAST 3 hours to peruse. (Got some goodies that day, though no furniture, so still having trouble finding permanent places to unpack our boxes.) Before I head out with my coffee, my sour cream raisin cookies and "my" slippers (pink bunny, that is, on the needles), does anyone have any good tips for non-toxic (but effective) wallpaper removal??? And do I rip off what I can without any solution and then go to work to take off the remainder with something like vinegar and water?? Any suggestions would be helpful. An AWFUL lot of walls needing "treatment", and when the rain next arrives, I'd like to go to town on a kids' bedroom, which is in desperate need of some pink and green paint (I'm told). P.S. The roses are out and they're the kinds that smell divine! Gotta enjoy them while they're here...I have the feeling they're also the kinds that are only here for a brief stint in June.
