AHHHHHH . . . .
At long last I have a new pair of warm, fuzzy, cushy Felt Clogs. As you can see, I was in dire need of a new pair. Old and new:
The new ones took a good five days to fully dry. I knew they would take awhile; I've made these many times. But when your toes are cold and your heels are walking on cold, bare floor, you tend to keep checking, just to see if they're drier any sooner. This, however, doesn't speed up the drying process. As we all know:
Hey, just got in some gorgeous new laceweight. A lovely blend of wool, angora, and nylon in three sumptuous hand-dyed shades. Left to right are Rainbow, Sargasso, and Night. 630 yds/578 m per 50g skein, and each a one-of-a-kind creation. At only $8.25 CDN/skein, this is definitely affordable luxury!

TEN THINGS
You know that list that goes around from blog to blog about "Ten Things I'm Loving Right Now"? Thought I'd chime in.
- New, red socks! For me!! Knit in Austermann Shetland in a flash. (Man, worsted is faster than fingering!) This will be the third pair of socks I own in this yarn, in the third color. This is the first pair of those three that I've knit myself. (Thanks, Mom!) Soon to be matched up with some red Felt Clogs (a la Fiber Trends).
- Homemade gourmet chocolate bark for Valentine's Day with Just Us fair-trade dark and white chocolate (marbled), locally grown hazelnuts (roasted) and our very own raspberries (dried). Intense and amazing.
- Wayne and Schuster "The Radio Years" on CD. Thank you to the CBC archives.
- Walking. On bare pavement. In February. We keep getting snow and cold weather, but the road is bare at least every other day, and even a half an hour at a brisk pace with a walkman in the frosty air does wonders for body and soul.
- Steel cut oats. A new discovery for us. We love oats in all shapes and sizes.
- My vintage edition of Cranford by "Mrs. Gaskell". (That would be Elizabeth Gaskell.) My darling hubby gave this beautiful leather bound copy to me for Christmas, and every once in awhile I treat myself to a chapter. (Instead of knitting.) I'm savouring . . .
- Goat's milk in cappuccinos.
- My attempt at a centuries old Parisian bread. We have been indulging (even more than usual) in breads of all imaginable types often. If you don't happen to have a copy of Stella Standard's Our Daily Bread (given to you by your sage husband at Christmas), get thee to a secondhand store or library and snag one if you can! The book covers yeast and quick breads, including pancakes and muffins, and we haven't had a miss in the (at least) dozen recipes already tested! (Have you noticed how many of these "ten things" are related to food?)
- The view out the (current) kitchen window.
- Briggs and Little Sport. Used in my newest pattern, soon to be unveiled. (Waiting on good photography, as usual.) The smell, the feel, the knit fabric.
And now that I've posted fondly, I'm off to bust up a sibling argument! Ah, love . . .
