AND NOW . . .

Well, it was the deal that wouldn't die. After many, many, many roadblocks and finally falling through completely, things were resurrected only hours later to finally resolve themselves into a house purchase for us. We call it the "Christine" of house deals. Is this good? We are wisely deigning to answer that until later. J However, while calling around to arrange for power, phone, internet, and the like, I have horribly discovered that I am doomed to return to the land of dial-up. Nothing to be done about it. I can see the new community from the kitchen window of our current rental (where we have high-speed service), and yet "the other side of the river" is so obviously in the "boonies" as far as services are concerned. I can hardly face the return to busy phone lines and millions of hours for emails and webpages to load. (So much so, that they often don't load at all. Such a waste of time, and definitely an exercise in exasperation.) It is much more than merely inconvenient, especially when you have a business to run, and I am more unhappy than I can say. But, on the up-side—at least I know what I'm getting into. Drat. I know Kristin Nicholas understands.

Anyhoo, in mid-May there will be a complete interruption of services (phone and email) for a week or so, but I'll keep you posted close to the time so that it doesn't totally seem as though I've disappeared off the face of the earth, as far as contacting me goes.

And in between various legal wranglings, phone calls, paper signings, and packing (AGAIN), I've been working on my knitting deadline and procrastinating on completely finishing all my bookkeeping for tax time by ordering garden seeds. Completely normal, yes? Keep your fingers crossed the predicted 22 degrees C and sunshine for tomorrow comes to pass!! Happy Weekend!

ALL AND SUNDRY

Where do I start? One of the best things about more frequent posts is that you don't forget the myriad of activities you've been doing in the flurry of life! Let's see. Drinking in the bursts of color in the form of crocuses and snowdrops. Walking with only one pair of mitts instead of two. Maple tapping and my new-found maple favorite: maple butter. Seedy Saturday. Sparkling water, and serving meals in courses to slow down and fully enjoy meal time. (Oh, and don't forget Prosecco, when it's available!) Re-learning how to bake with delicious flour that has no additives. (Hint: knead for AGES!) Result?

Gearing up for birthdays and Christmas, with some knitting, some sewing, and some embroidery:

(Pillowcases for two cutie nieces for Christmas.) Enjoying Easter treats from the local French chocolatier: Dark chocolate Easter eggs filled with more dark chocolate shapes! (Yes, we have a local French chocolatier! We realize how lucky we are, truly!) Getting my dish towel/pot holder swap swag together and sent in the mail (today). Working on a new pattern for the Fall 09 issue of Twist Collective. And trying not to think too long and hard about a house deal that is THIS close to falling through. And you? What have you been up to?
