Just a quick note: new load of Austermann STEP sock yarn now in stock (the one with the aloe and the jojoba), with some new colors, including the shade shown on the accompanying free sock pattern. Also good restock on Lett Lopi, so lots of colors for WINK Felted Elf Slippers. |

Wednesday, April 11, 2007 I got a cute little book in the mail over the weekend…it’s one of the newest titles in the Vogue Knitting On The Go! series, “Crocheted Baby Blankets”. Here are my two contributions:
This one is a delicate concoction, worked up in cashmere and definitely destined for heirloom status. The stitch pattern is actually not a difficult one, but does require a good blocking to fully showcase its beauty.
This one was worked in cotton, but of course fibre choices are practically infinite. A simple mesh is crocheted and then strands of varying colors are woven through the mesh for a fabulous plaid effect…a nice and thick blanket. Make it in pastels for a different look or replicate the colors of your family’s tartan! I don’t have my hands on copies of the book for the shop, yet, but will post it up when I do. Friday, April 06, 2007 I finished the vest for Crochet Today!, but will have to wait till tomorrow when the Post Office reopens to send it off to New York. In the meantime, I’ve got the instructions to write, which will keep me busy for a couple of hours today. Here’s a sneak peek:
Well, not much of a peek, I know…but the magazines don’t like their surprises given away before publication, naturally. Oh, the new Interweave Crochet (Spring 2007) is now in stock, so just give me a call or send me a note if you’d like a copy. Doncha just love that Beachcomber Tunic???!!
I made the one shown out of Garnstudio Silke Tweed, which I actually no longer stock in the shop. But it would work equally well (with just a little less silk) in E. Lavold’s Silky Wool, or even in Grignasco Tango DK (viscose, wool, and alpaca). Oh, or E. Lavold’s Hempathy would be interesting! I really NEED this sweater. I should really make more of an effort to get myself some sweaters made that are from my patterns for “advertising”. I’m the typical cobbler with no shoes…or the pretty much typical knitter who never makes anything for his or herself. It’s actually a problem, though…I never have anything new that’s knitted to wear to tradeshows, etc. I’ll just get right on that. (Bets, anyone?) By the way, the shop is closed today until next Tuesday for the (extra) long weekend, reopening regular hours on Wednesday, April 11. Have a great holiday! |
