I opened The Woollen Earth in 1998 as an enthusiastic knitter who wanted to spend her time with fellow knitters in a friendly shop full of fabulous fibers. After taking the initial plunge at knitting without a pattern, I have somehow, amazingly, found myself a “professional knitwear designer”. From my knitting and crochet pattern collection under The Woollen Earth label to freelance design work with publications such as “Interweave Knits”, along with retail shop hours and a mail order business, I keep myself pretty busy…and love it. The Woollen Earth online allows you to shop for my unique knitting patterns and kits, provides links to my freelance work, and is the home of my “blog”, a venue for design musings and an ongoing newsletter for “real life shop” product and event updates.
